1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how ChessOmni ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our Service. We are committed to complying with applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Data We Collect

  • Account data: email address, display name, authentication data (via Supabase Auth, including Google OAuth if used).
  • Chess data: PGNs and games you submit for analysis, linked Chess.com/Lichess usernames, analysis results and history.
  • Usage data: basic analytics on how you use the Service (via Google Analytics), including page views and feature interactions.
  • Payment data: subscription status and billing history. Full payment card details are handled directly by PayPal and are never stored on our servers.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Provide and improve game analysis and coaching features.
  • Sync and cache your games from linked chess platforms.
  • Process subscription payments.
  • Communicate with you about your account (e.g. email confirmation, password reset).
  • Understand aggregate usage of the Service to improve it.

4. Third-Party Data Processors

We share limited data with the following third parties, solely to operate the Service:

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and game data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or accounting purposes (e.g. payment records).

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your data.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (via Supabase) and analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand Service usage. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure authentication, to protect your data. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will note the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
